Massive airline relocation at LAX airport

HomeNews hubTravel NewsMassive airline relocation at LAX airport

One of the largest terminal moves in the history of commercial aviation will occur at LAX beginning the night of May 12th.  21 airlines will relocate terminals over a one-week period. Each airline will complete its relocation overnight while maintaining normal operations throughout the day.

How will passengers know where to go?

Before heading to LAX, check-in online, print your boarding pass and note your terminal and gate numbers.  All ground transportation (e.g. Taxis, Lyft, & Shuttles) and airport partners (e.g. TSA, CBP) will be updated on the airlines’ new homes.

During the week of the move, you will find approximately 500 new way-finding signs, additional airport personnel, and dedicated way-finders to assist with passenger navigation.

What happens if passengers arrive at the wrong side of the airport?

Pre-security, there will be a month-long shuttle between Terminals 2/3 and 5/6 to augment existing LAX Shuttle Airline Connections. While passengers are encouraged to undergo security screening at their correct terminals, there will also be a bus post-security to connect Terminal 2, 3, and 5 during the week of the move.

What else do I need to know?

LAX gate numbers reflect the terminals they are in (Terminal 6 contains gates 60-69). Please check terminal and gate information before coming to LAX, and allow for extra time at the airport.

If you are concerned about upcoming travel through LAX airport please get in touch with your Travel Manager.
