Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly Australia

When the wrong vehicle looked to disrupt a tight production schedule for a popular television series, Stage and Screen solved the logistical nightmare in just 20 minutes.

Client snapshot

With the travel management support of Stage and Screen, Network 10 regularly coordinates TV production schedules that require tightly managed logistics. For its series ‘Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly Australia’, its production team travels across the country helping dog owners tackle challenging behavioural issues in their pets.

The challenge

The production required identical vehicles in each location for filming continuity, as any variation would jeopardise filming and risk costly delays.

Specifically, Network 10 needed identical white cars – the same make and model, with no bull bars, stickers or external accessories – across three states over three months.

Stage and Screen went over and above its standard car hire arrangements to support Network 10’s requirement. It arranged long-term car hire in each state, sending Network 10 vehicle images in advance and liaising with fleet control to guarantee the correct vehicles.

However, upon arrival in the second state, Network 10’s production team discovered the vehicle supplied at the airport was not what was booked in the previous state. Filming schedules were at stake and, as the team had no success finding a suitable alternative at any car rental desk at their airport, it reached out to Stage and Screen for an urgent solution.

The solution

Stage and Screen immediately escalated the issue to a senior manager at the hire company. The correct vehicle was found at a depot in another location, deep cleaned and prepared for immediate handover.

Within 20 minutes, Stage and Screen had secured the exact car make, model and colour required – a near-impossible feat in a busy airport environment.

The outcome

Stage and Screen’s immediate intervention avoided major disruption to filming, avoided the extra expense of a last-minute vehicle booking and gave the production team peace of mind.

The production team called Stage and Screen to express their delight at the outcome. They were especially impressed that the travel manager could locate, clean and deliver the correct vehicle in under 20 minutes, in a situation that seemed unfixable.
